Dubai is one of the most family-friendly cities in the world: safe, clean and full of things children love. The secret is pacing — mornings outside, afternoons indoors and early nights. Here’s a four-day plan our guides use for families.
Family tips before you go
- Plan outdoor activities for the morning and evening; use museums, malls and aquariums in the hottest hours.
- Strollers are welcome almost everywhere, and the Metro has step-free access.
- Pack sun hats, reef-safe sunscreen and water bottles — and refill often.
Day 1: Aquarium and the tallest tower
Spend the morning at The Dubai Mall’s aquarium, then rest at the hotel. Return for an early-evening visit to Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountain show — children love both.
Day 2: Beach and Palm
Enjoy a morning at a calm public beach in Jumeirah or JBR, then take the monorail along Palm Jumeirah. Many families add a water park in the afternoon.
Day 3: The future and the past
Book an early slot at the Museum of the Future, which has a dedicated children’s area. In the late afternoon, ride an abra across Dubai Creek and let the kids explore the colourful Spice Souk.
Day 4: A gentle desert adventure
Choose a family-friendly morning or sunset trip in the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve — wildlife spotting, a short camel ride and sand-boarding on small dunes, without extreme dune driving.
Why families book a guide
A family guide plans around nap times and the heat, knows where the clean toilets and shady spots are, and keeps children engaged with stories and games. Find a family-friendly guide.
